Chairman's Message

MAGUS CURO means MAGICAL CURE. This rehabilitation centre is started with an aim to serve the mankind, especially the poor, diseased. Every therapy & every branch of rehabilitation present in this rehabilitation centre is full – fledged.

This Rehabilitation centre has a team of more than 27 rehabilitation professionals (3 Sr. Physiotherapy Doctors, 4 Jr. Physiotherapy Doctors, 6 Consultant Medical Doctors including Orthopaedician, General Physician, Dermatologist, E.N.T, Psychiatrist, Pulmonologist ; 2 Psychotherapists & Counsellors, 2 Hypnotists, 2 Nutritionists, 2 Speech Therapists, 1 Audiologist, 2 Special Education Trainers, 1 Occupational Therapist, 2 Yoga trainers) who aspire to provide services for any physical and psychological problems.

We don’t support any unqualified persons in the field of rehabilitation because any mistake in treatment may lead to severe consequences in the patient’s life. As the patient will be already depressed because of his/her problem, he/she will be more depressed if some mistake is committed in his/her treatment, which is against the basic principle of rehabilitation.

Every person has to be psychologically strong enough in order to face day – to – day difficulties. To counter declining emotional health of humanity, the stigma attached to counselling needs to be removed and awareness is to be created about the need and availability of help. Statistics show that the rate of psychological disturbances leading to suicide, homicide, marital breakdown, alcoholism, drug abuse, etc. is increasing at an alarming rate all over the world. While the requirement is far greater, India does not have even 3,000 qualified counsellors. It would seem that as the material comforts of life are increasing due to the scientific explosion, mental health is deteriorating. Mental health is achieved when man is completely psychologically mature or self-actualised.

According to a National Mental Health Programme document, about 20-30 million Indians are in need of some or other form of mental health care. Every year 2, 50,000 new cases are being reported. But these figures do not include the thousands of others who may be suffering in silence without access to help because all the medical cases, especially in India follow THE ICEBERG PHENOMENON i.e., when an iceberg is put into a glass of water, the tip of the iceberg floats above the level of water & major portion of the iceberg is into the water which is hardly noted. In the same way, the psychological or any medical cases which are being seen in any clinic or any hospital or any rehabilitation centre are like the tip of the iceberg & there are many cases in the society which are unseen or going unnoticed or not being taken care of. WHO has declared that the emotional health of humanity is declining, that cases of depression, nervous anxiety and psychosomatic disorders are on the rise, and that family doctors should look for signs in their patients that would indicate the need for counselling.

In our society an individual’s worth is often judged by his or her contribution to the society and employment has evolved to become a major factor in evaluating their worth. Even though disabled people constitute a significant 5 to 6 percent of the population of India, their needs for employment remain unsatisfied, in spite of the implementation of the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995, which reserves 3 per cent of all categories of jobs in the Government sector for disabled persons. Women with disabilities suffer a double discrimination, both on the grounds of gender and of impairment. There is ample evidence that women with disabilities experience major psycho-social problems. Feticide and infanticide are more in case of women with disabilities.

Hence we started this rehabilitation centre in order to participate in the service for the betterment of our society.
